The Gunchello comic strip was influenced by Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County, and Peanuts (In that order). The title character, Gunchello, is derived from one of Jerry's early cartoon strips, called Lint Man, in which The Great Gunchello is similar to the wizard in Wizard of Oz. While many people seem to think he looks like an older Calvin, Gunchello's look actually comes from Mickey Mouse. virtual server hosting.

Gunchello orginially appeared in Dragon magazine, a publication for roleplaying games. The popularity of the strip prompted it's release on the web and subsequent syndication by Community Syndicate to small papers all across North America. The syndicate dissolved in 2003 and Gunchello has been available only on this website since then. Future plans for the strip are uncertain.
